Ninilchik Russian

Ninilchik Russian has been spoken continuously in the village of Ninilchik, Alaska, since its first permanent settlers arrived there in 1847. Today there are only a few speakers of this dialect left. We celebrate their lives and the unique language heritage they have maintained.

We have completed one stage of a dictionary of Ninilchik Russian. You may download it from the Dictionary link, above.  You can also listen to a few recordings of Ninilchik Russian from the Dictionary link. There will be many more sound files in a future version of the dictionary.

Ninilchik is located on the west coast of the Kenai Peninsula. It is 100 air miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.
